The 13 Augusta place-name ZIPs in GeoNames
USPS does not publish a free bulk ZIP-to-city-to-county file. DialWick's table is built from GeoNames' US postal-code export (CC BY 4.0), which compiles public USPS/Census fields into one row per ZIP and place name. For Augusta, GA that export currently yields 13 ZIPs.
Those rows are not the same thing as "every ZIP that touches Augusta-Richmond County." Neighboring place names such as Hephzibah (30815), Blythe (30805), and Gracewood (30812) sit inside or next to the consolidated area but do not carry Augusta as their primary place string, so they are out of this table on purpose.
Augusta and Richmond County voters approved consolidation in a June 20, 1995 referendum; the merged government took effect January 1, 1996, leaving the separate municipalities of Blythe and Hephzibah outside the merger [Wikipedia: Augusta, Georgia, citing The Augusta Chronicle's anniversary note on the referendum date, checked 2026-10-19]. ZIP boundaries never had to redraw themselves for that political merger.

Why 30907 is the row that needs a caveat
In this site's GeoNames extract, 30907 is filed under Richmond County. Capitol Impact's city ZIP list and zip-codes.com's Columbia County page both present 30907 as an Augusta place name in Columbia County, and zip-codes.com treats 30917 the same way for Columbia.
That is a real disagreement among public directories, not a typo unique to one page. GeoNames stores a single county string per ZIP/place pair; population-weighted ZIP-to-county products can land the same delivery area on the other side of the Richmond-Columbia line. This article does not claim "most directories get it wrong." It keeps the GeoNames value in the table and tells you where other commonly cited lists diverge.
If you need the county for a form that will be checked against a specific agency's file (tax, voter registration, school district), match that agency's source rather than assuming any one commercial ZIP page is authoritative.
Consolidated government vs mailing place name
People search "Augusta GA ZIP code" expecting one number. There is no single citywide ZIP. Downtown mail often uses 30901; other neighborhoods use their own five-digit codes from the table above.
The consolidated government is a political geography. Mailers still print a place name and ZIP that USPS recognizes for sorting. That is why an address can read Augusta, GA while the county field on another database points at Columbia, and why Blythe and Hephzibah can sit inside Richmond County without using Augusta as their default place name.
